Raw Banana Bajji / Plantain Bajji / Vazhaikkai Bajji / Kachcha Kela Pakora
Ingredients:
Plantain
(Raw banana, Vazhaikkai): 1
Gram
Flour (Kadalai mavu, Besan flour) - 2 cups
Rice
flour (Arisi mavu): 3 to 4 tbsp
Red
chilli powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric
powder: ¼ tsp
Asafoetida:
a pinch
Baking
soda: a pinch
Oil
to fry
Salt to taste
Method of Preparation:
Wash
the plantains (Raw Bananas).
Peel
(Remove) the skin of them.
Slice
them thin lengthwise.
Mix
the besan flour, rice flour, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and baking
soda.
Add
water little by little carefully and make a smooth, thick and lump free batter.
Dip
the slices in batter, so that it is coated evenly.
Heat
oil in a deep frying pan (kadai, wok, vanali, iruppuch chatti)
Let
the flame be medium.
Once
the oil is hot, drop the coated slices one by one for deep frying.
Use
a slotted spoon to turn the slices upside down when one side becomes lightly
golden.
Fry
till the slices are cooked and turned into golden brown.
Transfer
them into a bowl.
Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
